Graduate Student

Bio

Sarah received her B.S. in Chemistry at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. There she worked as a chemistry stockroom assistant and conducted research under Prof. Mark Dadmun. As an undergraduate, she analyzed multiblock copolymers and evaluated how to improve and manipulate their structural properties to improve the mechanical recycling compatibility between immiscible plastics. She is excited to have joined the Castellano group in Fall 2025. She hopes to combine her sustainability passions and scientific curiosity to create and characterize a first-row transition metal photocatalyst that can be used to depolymerize a variety of low-molecular-weight polymers. When she is not in gloves, goggles, and head-to-toe proper PPE, she is outside exploring parks, grabbing a coffee, or thrift shopping!
